The climate variation from season to season never ceases to amaze us. May is when we usually pick and you can almost by the hour know when Autumn's balmy days break into hail and 30 knot south-westerlies (about 0800 when we've got 10 pickers ready to go...!).
But May 2014 has been warm and with plenty of northerlies. Great for the surf but we're not sure about the olives. The past few winters have been wet and harvests low yield despite the trees looking fantastic with no fungal issues. It looks like this winter will be dry and warmer. Will be interesting to see.
Of course all of this is completely contrary to the last few weeks where its been freezing with 100mm of rain bucketing down. Great for the snow!
Time will tell...
